ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) is gearing up to provide security across Western Visayas this summer season.
A total of 5,963 personnel would be deployed next week, according to PRO-6 director, Police Brigadier General Rolando Miranda.
He said various activities like the Lenten season, Philippine Veterans Week, Araw ng Kagitingan, Labor Day, National Flag Day, and Flores de Mayo are being observed during summer.
More personnel are needed to secure these events, Miranda said.
Likewise, PRO-6 personnel are on alert for the reopening of more tourist destinations, as well as for gatherings such as fiesta celebrations and other events that are still prohibited.
“Our deployment would be adjusted based on the guidelines set by Inter-Agency Task Force, but on our end, we have to prepare for any possibilities this early,” Miranda added.
These personnel will secure churches, transport terminals, seaports, malls, and tourist destinations, among others.
To contain the spread of coronavirus, health protocols would also be strictly enforced.
Some 11,682 force multipliers would augment security.
“We appeal to the general public to follow health protocols while enjoying summer vacation with your families,” Miranda added./PN
