ILOILO City – The city government started inoculating its medical frontliners at the West Visayas State University Medical Center gym yesterday.

According to Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas, the 610 doses of Sinovac’s CoronaVac vaccines were given to 610 medical frontliners and the Quarantine Facility Management team of the city government.

“I am thankful to the Department of Health for giving us 610 doses of COVID-19 vaccines. As soon as I received the message, I called our City Health Office to prepare to ensure that our frontliners will be safe especially when they are facing different people,” said Treñas.

The third batch of Sinovac vaccines consisting of 3,400 doses arrived in Iloilo International Airport over the weekend.

Meanwhile, Treñas expressed elation that the acceptance level of the city’s medical frontliners has increased.

“Through this program, we can show everyone that we should not be afraid to be immunized, and there is nothing to worry about. If we shield ourselves from the effects of the virus, we also protect the people around us,” Treñas added./PN
