CAIRO – Egypt and France conducted a joint naval exercise in the Red Sea.
Egyptian military spokesman Tamer al-Refai said on Facebook that the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle and Egyptian frigate Segm Al Fateh took part in the exercise. The Charles de Gaulle is France’s only nuclear aircraft carrier.
Training was carried out in many areas, including an exchange of helicopter landings on the helidecks of the vessels, remote-close defense tactics, and addressing all kinds of threats.
The exercise was carried out as part of the General Command of the Egyptian Armed Forces’ plan to upgrade the level of training and exchange experiences with the armed forces of “brotherly and friendly” countries. It was also an indicator of the positive course of bilateral relations between Egypt and France.(Anadolu Agency)
