BACOLOD City – Almost all police officers of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) signified willingness to be vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
According to NOCPPO spokesperson Police Lieutenant Abegael Donasco, out of the total 2,237 police personnel, 2,204 or 98.52 percent were willing to be inoculated.
The 33 others, meanwhile, declined. They have underlying medical conditions such as hypertension, while some are pregnant and breastfeeding, Donasco said.
The spokesperson also revealed that they would distribute the vaccines by batch. Initially included in the first batch are 118 police officers assigned in the headquarters, followed by the 928 from the city and municipal police stations.
Those belonging to the NOCPPO’s Health Services Office will be prioritized first.
“Vaccines from Sinovac will be the primary vaccine for our police officers,” Donasco said, adding that they have yet to receive the anti-coronavirus jabs./PN
