BACOLOD City – The anti-coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine from British-Swedish pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca seemed to work well with Negros Occidental’s senior healthcare workers inoculated with it.

There were no reported major side effects yet, according to Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, provincial health officer.
Side effects allegedly caused by the AstraZeneca vaccine such as blood clotting forced several countries in Europe to temporarily halt its rollout while an investigation was ongoing.
According to Tumimbang, as per the national government’s advice, they were only using the AstraZeneca vaccine for healthcare workers aged 59 years and above.

So far, they have not recorded severe side effects from any other vaccine inoculated to the provincial health workers.
A total of 20 senior health workers of the Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan City already received AstraZeneca jabs.

Likewise, 679 health workers have been inoculated with the CoronaVac vaccine.
The PHO aims to inoculate at least 2,590 of their healthcare workers using CoronaVac, and another 370 with AstraZeneca./PN
