ICPO gets 3 new women police chiefs

ILOILO City – Women are now heading three police stations here – a result of a reshuffling of police station commanders on March 22.

The three policewomen were the following:

* Police Captain Shella Mae Sangrines (Police Station 1, City Proper)

* Police Major Marlyn Roquero (Police Station 4, Molo)

* Police Captain Chen Tañagas (Police Station 6, Arevalo)

According to Police Colonel Uldarico Garbanzos, director of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), Sangrines replaced Police Major Mark Evan Salvo who is now with the Iloilo City Mobile Force Company (ICMFC).

Roquero, on the other hand, replaced Police Major Engerlbert Banquillo, now the administrative officer of the ICPO.

Tañagas replaced Police Major Jose Val Ladublan, who was transferred to Police Station 2 (La Paz).

Meanwhile, Police Major Edcel Balibadlan now spearheads the city Police Community Relations (PCR) while Police Lieutenant Colonel Reuben Siason of the Jaro police station was replaced by Police Captain Eduardo Siacon.

Siason is now ICPO’s deputy chief for operations.

Police Major Jonathan Pinuela of the Mandurriao police station, on the other hand, gets to keep his post.

‘BIG CHALLENGE’

For Sangrines, former spokesperson of the ICPO, her new position is a big challenge, especially because “we are one of the biggest areas in Iloilo City.”

“We are thankful to the trust and confidence of our city director for giving us the chance to show that we are also capable of leading police stations. We are asking the support of our media friends, too,” Sangrines said.

ICPO CLARIFIES

The decision to relieve Balibadlan came way ahead of the issuance of a show-cause order against Rockwell Cockpit Arena in Barangay Don Esteban, Lapuz here.

This was clarified by Garbanzos following reports of Balibadan’s supposed failure to monitor cockfighting activities in the said arena. Cockfighting in this city is prohibited./PN
