Stephen Curry returns with 32 points; Warriors maul Chicago

MANILA – Stephen Curry had a triumphant return from a three-game absence as the Golden State Warriors walloped Chicago Bulls, 116-102 during their game in the 2020-2021 National Basketball Association Season on Monday night (Tuesday in the Philippines ) at Chase Center in San Francisco, California.

Curry – who was out due to injury – drained six triples to finish with 32 points in just three quarters as the Warriors snapped its losing streak to improve to 23-24 slate.

Andrew Wiggins chipped in 21 markers; Kelly Oubre Jr. and James Wiseman had 18 and 12 points, respectively; and Draymond Green contributed 11 points, nine assists, and five rebounds for the Warriors.

Holding to a slim 80-78 lead, Curry anchored Warriors’ rally with consecutive points followed by conversions from Green and Kent Bazemore to establish a 96-85 advantage.

The lead grew to its largest at 111-93 on baskets by Jordan Poole and Oubre before the Bulls rallied to within 113-100. A triple by Damion Lee sealed the win for the Warriors.

Nikola Vucevic finished with 21 points, nine rebounds and six assists, while Patrick Williams and Tomas Satoransky added 14 markers each as the Bulls dropped to 19-26.

Meanwhile, Brooklyn Nets (32-15) survived a late uprising by the Minnesota Timberwolves (11-36) to pull off a 112-107 victory at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

After seeing its 103-92 lead trimmed to 108-107 with under a minute left, the Nets resorted to defensive stops before sealing the victory with a pair of free throws from James Harden and Kyrie Irving.

Harden finished the match with triple-double 38 points, 13 assists, and 11 rebounds while Irving chipped in 27 markers and seven boards for the Nets.

In other results, New Orleans Pelicans turned back Boston Celtics, 115-109; Miami Heat edged New York Knicks, 98-88, Washington Wizards prevailed over Indiana Pacers, 132-124; and Dallas Mavericks defeated Oklahoma City Thunder, 127-106.
