
MANILA – Taekwondo jins from the Kalibo, Aklan-based RR Taekwondo Training Center harvested medals in the recently held Mexico Virtual Cup Taekwondo International Championship.
The Aklanons were dominant in kyorugi where they seized 19 gold medals, nine silvers, and two bronze. In Poomsae, they clinched 11 gold medals, 13 silvers, and six bronze.
Leo Miguel Olmo, Vince Edward Collado Jr., Lance Aaron Sioco, Gabymarl Yuri Prado, Precious Bernardine Igoy, Kirs Dianne Olmo, Mickaela Joyce Matorres, Stephanie Nicole Clemente, Mary Klarein Tambong, Chynz Danielle Collado, Angel Quizon, Sophia Simone Cartagena, Necole Cortez, Mitzumi Palma, Krishna Dasi Navarra, Hydri Olivia, Jenrykisha Myles Reloj, Tracy Johan Retubis, and Zach Gabrielle Lacnaria grabbed gold medals in kyorugi.
Victoria Kestrel Ramos, Maria Allana Lachina, Lorraine Ibardolaza, Bianca Erycha Mationg, Shaun Kiefer Lacnaria, Kristina Carla Habana, Francine Daylle Clarito, Mayden Niverca, and Fyll Xylyl Krystyl Oliva won silver medals in the said event.
The two kyorugi bronze medal winners for the stable of coaches Melvin Arboleda and Jojo Castro were Thuj Agujitas and Jensine Rei Gremio.
In Poomsae category, Clemente, Prado, Oliva, Tambong, Navarra, Cortez, Retubis, Habana, Olivia, Zach Gabrielle Lacanaria, and Kirs Dianne Olmo bagged gold medals.
The silver medalists, meanwhile, are Reloj, Cartagena, Mationg, Lachica, Sioco, Palma, Agujitas, Igoy, Clarito, Nieverca, Shaun Kiefer Lacnaria, Leo Miguel Olmo, and Chynz Danielle Collado.
Quizon, Gremio, Matorres, Ibadolaza, Vince Edward Collado Jr., and Victoria Kestrel Ramos bagged bronze medals.
Coach Arboleda told Panay News that he is proud of the team’s performance in the tournament.
“Our training and preparation became tough because of the pandemic but the players were very determined and I am thankful to their trust to the coaching staff,” he said./PN
