BACOLOD City – Due to the surge in local cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), resorts and parks in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental have been closed.

On Monday, data released by the Provincial Incident Management Team showed that San Carlos City has the highest number of active cases in Negros Occidental as of April 4, with 119 cases.

In Executive Order (EO) 22, series of 2021, Mayor Renato Gustilo ordered the suspension of operations of all resorts and recreational parks starting April 2.

In EO 22, the mayor stated that all public resorts and leisure parks must temporarily stop operations thereby, prohibiting the conduct and holding of events and activities considered not essential.

He also ordered that recreational areas within the resorts should be closed to “avoid the gathering of individuals and uncontrolled exposure due to difficulty in maintaining the ideal social distancing”.

The conduct of non-essential activities in public places, resorts, parks, and other tourism establishments are prohibited.

Gustilo directed resort operators to find ways and solutions to immediately cancel bookings and reservations as well as advised clients and customers to initiate the cancellation of their bookings while EO 22 is being implemented. (PNA/PN)
