KALIBO, Aklan – Two mass vaccination sites here are almost ready – the Kalibo Pastrana Park covered court in Barangay Poblacion and Saint Gabriel College covered court in Barangay Old Buswang.
Mayor Emerson Lachica said Kalibo will receive an initial 16,400 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) for priority groups.
The local government, which targets to vaccinate 70 percent of its 84,000 population to achieve herd immunity, allotted P50 million for the purchase of vaccines.
“The availability of vaccines brings optimism for an economic restart. Padayun kita sa pagsunod it minimum health protocols kontra COVID-19. Halos prepared na kita sa pag-abot it vaccines,” said Lachica.
The local government procured standby mobile generators for vaccination sites and bio-refrigerators to store vaccines at the Kalibo birthing facility in preparation for the mass COVID-19 vaccination.
Health authorities also heightened efforts to conduct dialogues and consultations on the government’s vaccination program in 16 barangays of Kalibo.
