The Governor of Negros Occidental is requesting travelers entering into the province to undergo swab tests at the air and sea ports.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson reiterated this, adding that he received no further information regarding an extension for the travel moratorium which is scheduled to end today, April 19.
The governor also said that swab tests at the entry points of Negros Occidental will still be voluntary. Lacson reminded all towns and cities in the province not to approve the S-Pass System of travelers refusing to be swabbed or present a negative RT-PCR test result.
The initial deadline for the travel moratorium was on April 10, but Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases along with the National Task Force (NTF) approved the request of Western Visayas officials to extend the moratorium for one more week.
IATF chairman, Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said that the extension was granted to give local officials more breathing space in preventing COVID-19 transmissions and protect their health care system from being overwhelmed./PN
