THE COVID-19 surge in “Metro Manila Plus” is going from bad to worse with seemingly no end in sight. Everyone is desperate for any kind of relief or cure that they seem willing to try just about anything.
Lately the focus has been on the anti-parasitic drug Ivermectin, very familiar to most dog owners and commonly used by veterinarians to treat fleas, worms and other parasites infesting your family pet.
Now it seems there are people, some prominent ones, who swear on the effectiveness of Ivermectin against the virus COVID-19. I just have one comment: Ivermectin is an anti-parasitic drug and COVID-19 is a virus. Anyway, we’re not here to talk about Ivermectin so let’s just leave it at that.
We’re going to talk about something else also related to the virus but first let’s have a bit of fun at other people’s expense.
On the usual suspects and “devotees to the cult of the yellow ribbon”, they know that they will never win in any elections so the best they can do is to ask Duterte to resign. Bearing in mind that nobody’s buying their so-called people power and necropolitics anymore. Really pathetic losers.
With less than a year to go till he finishes his term, good luck on that, do they really think Duterte will oblige them? Bear in mind he has a high approval rating and his daughter is leading the surveys on presidentiables.
A few days ago the hottest topic on mainstream and social media was that franchise-less ABS-CBN inked a contract with ChinatownNewsTV or CNTV and will be airing daily a news program in Mandarin over cable station ABS-CBN News Channel or ANC which, of course, triggered the three percent; they went berserk. Bear in mind that these people are inflicted with acute sinophobia. And from the comforts of their homes using their iPhones and iPads (made in China, of course) they launched a concerted rant on Twitter against ABS-CBN for “sleeping with the enemy” and threatened to boycott the franchise-less TV station.
Now considering that this rabid three percent makes up the entire viewers of franchise-less ABS-CBN blocktime programs in other networks, in less than 24 hours after the news came out about the partnership with CNTV, ABS-CBN announced that they have cancelled the contract and will no longer be airing the Mandarin language news program on ANC.
It is quite hilarious to watch these “devotees to the cult of the yellow ribbon” cancel themselves out; even funnier than Jim Paredes’ little purple thingy.

And we segue to something more serious and important, excerpts from a story on https://www.onenews.ph :
IATF starts distribution of virgin coconut oil to hospitals
The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) has started distributing virgin coconut oil (VCO) to hospitals in the National Capital Region (NCR) to serve as an adjunctive treatment for mild cases of COVID-19.
VCO Philippines president and United Coconut Associations of the Philippines vice chairman engineer Marco Reyes said VCO Philippines has coordinated with IATF vice chairman and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles for the donation of VCO that will be distributed by the IATF to Level 1 or most basic hospitals in the NCR, epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
Reyes added the VCO Philippines’ move will hopefully be the start of the national government’s strong push to promote VCO as a prophylaxis or part of preventive healthcare, if not an outright adjunctive cure, for mild COVID-19 cases.
And from www.fnri.dost.gov.ph:
The DOST-Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) had conducted a study that successfully showed that the mixture of VCO in meals of suspected and probable COVID-19 cases in Santa Rosa City, Laguna helped in their recovery.
The DOST-FNRI study, which was released on Dec. 3 and which entailed the provision of healthy meals mixed with VCO to 57 suspected and probable COVID-19 cases confined at the Santa Rosa Community Hospital and Santa Rosa Community Isolation Units, showed that all the participants recovered and tested negative for COVID-19 at the end of the 28-day clinical trials.
“The VCO group of patients who were served meals with VCO showed no COVID-19 related symptoms at Day 18, while symptoms persisted in some patients of the control group of patients who were served the same meals without VCO until Day 23,” DOST Secretary Fortunato dela Peña said during a briefing.
Dr. Imelda Angeles-Agdeppa, VCO study leader, Scientist II and Chief Science Research Specialist of DOST-FNRI, added that aside from monitoring the signs and symptoms of COVID-19 among the study volunteers, the research team also noted that the mean C-Reactive Protein of CRP levels in the VCO Group normalized to 5 milligrams per liter or less as early as Day 14.
The C-Reactive Protein or CRP is a quantitative marker used to monitor inflammation or infection, and that a CRP equal or less than 5 milligrams per liter signifies recovery from inflammation or infection.
Take note that virgin coconut oil has the same anti-viral properties as cannabis oil and it is natural with no side effects and easily available locally. …(brotherlouie16@gmail.com)/PN
