KALIBO, Aklan – A total of 21 farmers’ associations here received various farm machineries from the provincial government through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist.

The distribution was held in Barangay Nalook of this town last week. The barangay was the site of the province’s Agri-Aqua Demonstration Farm and Training Center.

The distribution of farm machineries is one way of helping farmers minimize the cost of production especially in labor. It also seeks to increase farm productions.

“The machineries are given as a grant to Aklan farmers associations as incentive for them to improve their production through farm mechanization,” Provincial Agriculturist Salome David said.

Distributed during the activity were 11 pumps and engines, which were received by irrigator associations of Ogsip and Sibalew, Libacao; Altavas; Cabayugan and Cogon, Malinao; Buenavista, Nabas; Argao, Malay;  Ibajay; Calizo, Balete; Linabuan Norte, Kalibo; and Bugasungan Lezo.

Six rice mills were distributed to and received by six irrigators associations from Tigbawan, Madalag; Jalas, New Washington; Dumlog, Malay; Agbago; Ibajay; Guinbaliwan, New Washington; and Guadalupe, Libacao.

On the other hand, three tillers were given to associations of Ortega, Libacao; Candelaria, New Washington; and Batuan, Ibajay, while one unit rice thresher was given to the irrigators association of Dumga, Makato.
