MANILA – Boston Celtics rallied from a late deficit to score a 119-114 victory over Golden State Warriors in the 2020-2021 National Basketball Association Season on Saturday at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.
Down 103-109 with over three minutes left, the Celtics got two free throws from Kemba Walker and three-pointers from Jayson Tatum and Marcus Smart to take a 111-109 lead.
After the Warriors tied the score at 111-all, Tatum and Walker converted five straight points for a 116-111 Celtics lead. Tatum and Walker then converted two free throws each to seal the win.
Tatum finished the match with double-double 44 points and 10 rebounds; Walker added 28 points; Smart chipped in 16 markers; and Jabari Parker and Payton Pritchard had 11 points each for the Celtics, as it notched its sixth straight victory to improve to 31-26 slate.
Stephen Curry ended with 47 points, including 11 three-point conversions, while Andrew Wiggins and Kent Bazemore added 22 and 16 markers, respectively, as the Warriors dropped to 28-29.
Meanwhile, defending champion Los Angeles Lakers (35-22) waxed hot in the overtime period as they cruised to a 127-115 victory over Utah Jazz (42-15).
The Lakers surged to a 120-113 lead after a triple from Kyle Kuzma, four straight points from Dennis Schroder, and a three-point play by Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
The Jazz rallied to within five after a basket by Juwan Morgan but the Lakers sealed the victory with conversions from Caldwell-Pope and Andre Drummond.
Drummond finished the match with 27 points. Schroder and Caldwell-Pope chipped in 25 markers apiece for the Lakers, which were without LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
In other results, Memphis Grizzlies (28-26) defeated Milwaukee Bucks (35-20), 128-115; Chicago Bulls (23-33) edged Cleveland Cavaliers (20-36), 106-96; and Washington Wizards (23-33) wallop Detroit Pistons (17-40), 121-100.
