200 sets of PPEs turned over to Antique hospital

SAN JOSE, Antique – From the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region 6,  200 complete sets of personal protective equipment (PPE) were turned over to the Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital (ASMGH) on April 19.

ASMGH is the referral hospital for cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Antique.

The PPEs included isolation gowns, shoe covers, KN95 facemasks, head covers, surgical gowns, gloves, aprons, face shields, and surgical masks.

The hospital’s PPEs have been depleted, according to Cindy Ferrer, spokesperson of the Western Visayas Regional Task Force Against COVID-19 headed by Regional Director Jose Roberto Nuñez of the Office of Civil Defense.

She described the situation as a “major problem” for the ASMGH.

“Amo na nga nagbulig kita,” Ferrer told Panay News.

ASMGH has around 800 personnel.

Ferrer said 114 hospital personnel tested positive for COVID-19 since last year.

The PPEs would protect ASMGH personnel from contracting the disease, said Ferrer./PN
