The Department of Tourism (DOT) 6 will focus on improving its digital content as alternative way to serve the public during this time of the pandemic.
In her first online media briefing, DOT 6 officer-in-charge Cristine Mansinares said they will be maximizing the use of online and digital channels to communicate tourism-related updates and information.
“One of the key priorities we will be working on is our digital transformation,” Mansinares told the media.
Mansinares replaced Atty. Helen Catalbas who already retired effective April 17. She was the Chief Promotion Tourism Officer of DOT-6. She also served as provincial tourism officer of the Negros Occidental. Aside from the DOT central office-run website, Mansinares said the region 6 tourism department will have its own tourism website and this will be launched soon.
“We are planning to incorporate a chat booth that will answer queries 24/7 especially those questions that are frequently asked,” she added.
“We will also maximize the use of our social media platforms in communicating tourism-related information to potential tourists and tourism stakeholders,” she added.
The new DOT-6 exec noted that some of the information they will be providing will include details about tourism sites in the region especially those that are open and ready based on the assessments of the respective LGUs and the assessment team from the regional office. They will also give updates on COVID-19 situations, and update on health and safety protocols as well as border restrictions of provinces and cities in region 6./PN
