MANILA – Stephen Curry had a terrible Wednesday night at the Capital One Arena in Washington as the Golden State Warriors tasted a 118-114 defeat to the Washington Wizards in the 2020-2021 season of the National Basketball Association.

After scoring more than 30 points in his previous 11 games, Curry was held down to 19 points against the Wizards on the 7-of-25 shooting including 2-of-14 from the free-throw line.

Despite Curry’s atrocious shooting, the Warriors rallied to within 104-93 in the fourth quarter led by Jordan Poole and Kelly Oubre Jr.

However, the Wizards seized the advantage at 110-108 behind attacks of Daniel Gafford, Russell Westbrook, Bradley Beal, and David Bertans.

The Warriors were hanging at 114-116 on two-pointers by Curry with a minute left, but two free throws by Bertans sealed the victory for the Wizards.

The triumph pushed the Wizards (25-33) to grab the no. 10 spot in the East Conference from the Chicago Bulls (24-34).

Beal ended the match with a double-double of 29 points and 10 rebounds. Centers Gafford and Bertans scored 19 markers apiece for Washington.

Raul Neto also had a solid offensive evening with 18 points, while Westbrook posted a triple-double with 20 rebounds, 14 points, and 10 assists for the Wizards, which lost rookie Denk Avdija to a season-ending injury.

Oubre and Poole spearheaded the Warriors (29-30) with 24 and 22 markers, respectively. Kent Bazemore chipped in 19 markers while Andrew Wiggins added 14 points.

In other results, Phoenix Suns (42-16) prevailed over Philadelphia 76ers (39-19), 116-113; Toronto Raptors (25-34) edged Brooklyn Nets (39-20); and Indiana Pacers (27-31) wallop Oklahoma City Thunder (20-39), 122-116.
