ILOILO City – Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Iloilo City Field Unit arrested four persons in Barangay Airport, Mandurriao district.
They were selling lots using spurious documents, according to Police Major Jess Baylon, chief of the CIDG here.
A family, said Baylon, sought CIDG’s help. It claimed having learned that its lot was being sold without its consent or knowledge.
An entrapment was planned.
“So nagsugtanay kami (with the suspects) nga mabakal kami property sa sulod sang property sang isa ka family (the complainant),” said Baylon.
CIDG undercover officers transacted with the suspects for a 1.5-hectare land in Estancia, Iloilo worth P32 million.
The following suspects were arrested yesterday: Atty. Gil Cuñada, 63, of this city; Norberto Oñas, 63, and Edgar Oñas, 61, of Barangay Sta. Ana, Estancia, Iloilo; and Marybeth Gadia, 37, of Barangay Camambogan, Balasan, Iloilo.
CIDG operatives also recovered the P200,000 entrapment money they used in the sting operation and documents which were suspected to have been faked.
The suspects were detained in the lockup cell of the CIDG-Iloilo City Field Unit. They could not be reached for comment as this was being written.
