BACOLOD City – The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) here passed a resolution urging the City Health Office (CHO) and the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) to investigate the alleged improper waste disposal of a food processing firm in Purok Puentebella, Barangay Alijis.
About 20 households were complaining of the foul smell from a nearby creek, according to Councilor Archie Baribar who penned a resolution tackling the matter.
Residents claimed that the smell was due to a food processing company’s waste allegedly being disposed there.
Baribar said the residents were concerned of their health and the waste’s effects to the environment.
The residents already complained to their barangay council but the problem persisted, he added.
The SP asked the CHO and the CENRO to furnish them a copy of the result of their investigation.
