JORDAN, Guimaras – A total of 254 frontliners and 10 senior citizens here have received their first doses of the vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

According to Dr. Robel Gencianeo, municipal health officer, the frontliners were from the Municipal Health Office, Municipal Disaster Risk and Reduction and Management Office, the contact tracers, screeners, from the Department of Education, funeral homes, Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and private medical clinics and pharmacies.

Of these 264 persons, 80 already completed their second doses.

The vaccines used were Sinovac Biotech’s CoronaVac and AstraZeneca’s.

On May 13, 121 more will get their second doses, said Gencianeo.

He hoped that through the example of the frontliners, more residents of Jordan would be encouraged to have themselves vaccinated.

“Matuod nga 50 percent lang ang protection nga mahatag sang Sinovac pero 100 percent guarantee nga indi ka ma-hospitalize…proven naman and so far wala talagang side effects,” Gencianeo added./PN
