JORDAN, Guimaras – Today, 133 persons here will be getting their second dose of the vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Ten of them will be inoculated with the vaccine of AstraZeneca while 123 will be getting Sinovac’s CoronaVax vaccine.

These  individuals are frontliners from the Municipal Health Office (MHO), Municipal Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Office, contact tracers, screeners, from the Department of Education, funeral homes, Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTs), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and private clinics and pharmacies.

Doctors and nurses of the MHO will administer the shots.

According to Dr. Robel Gencianeo, Jordan’s municipal health officer, the second dose would give recipients better protection from COVID-19.

There is less likelihood of them to be hospitalized, suffer from complications, undergo intubation or die, he said.

Gencianeo urged more Jordan residents to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

“Kindly notify your BHERTs to assist you for the prioritization list (master listing) and allocation,” said Gencianeo.

Yesterday, 280 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines were delivered to Jordan by the Department of Health Region 6. These were intended for frontliners, senior citizens and individuals with comorbidities.

But even if already vaccinated, people must continue observing the public health safety protocols – wearing of facemask and face shield, physical distancing and proper washing of hands./PN
