ILOILO City – A 20-year-old woman was hospitalized. She was allegedly raped in La Paz district.
Her father believed she was raped because she was bleeding, said Police Major Val Ladublan, La Paz police chief.
Nena (not her real name), a resident of a barangay in La Paz, was taken to the Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao district.
According to the father, Nena attended a birthday party somewhere in La Paz on Thursday, May 20. She went home drunk and was bleeding.
“Her father brought her to the hospital. At first, her father thought his daughter was pregnant and miscarried,” Ladublan said.
On the other hand, Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) spokesperson, Police Captain Shella Mae Sangrines, said they were still investigating if there really was rape.
As of this writing, Sangrines said, they were waiting for “material evidence” to include the medical result and the statement of the victim.
“All information we gather are being assessed… We have yet to talk to the victim. Tanan nga report aton nabaton indi pa ini conclusive… ginatipon pa naton para kon ma–istorya na naton ang victim ma-connect connect na naton,” Sangrines said.
She said they already have the name of the person who was with the victim at that time, but they could not arrest him yet because the alleged rape has yet to be established.
“We often warn women, especially the young ones, to refrain from going to parties and get drunk to avoid being abused. To the parents, kindly monitor your sons’ and daughters’ activities,” Sangrines stressed./PN
