ROXAS City – The city government is requesting the National Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) to place this city under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) from the current Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ).
Mayor Ronnie Dadivas said hospitals and isolation facilities were already full of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients and medical frontliners were getting exhausted, too.
As of May 23, Roxas City had 165 active COVID-19 cases.
Dadivas recently had a meeting with the Capiz Medical Society, business sector stakeholders and Liga ng mga Barangay officers and members. They agreed to request the IATF for an MECQ.
“Kon maaprobahan ini, mangin hugot kita sa pag-implement sang aton mga health protocols,” said Dadivas.
In the stricter community quarantine, Dadivas acknowledged that “madamu ang maapektuhan kasubong sang negosyo, transportasyon, manugbaligya sa merkado kag pagbyahe.”
“Apang mas pilion ko ini kaysa maglapta ang COVID-19 sa tanan kag kita ang mag-antos,” stressed Dadivas in a pre-recorded public address posted in his Facebook page.
The city mayor again urged the public to observe the minimum health protocols – wearing of facemask and face shield, physical distancing and proper washing of hands.
Dadivas also appealed to the national government to secure more COVID-19 vaccines.
“Maghalong gid kita kay kon indi, basi indi lang ang mga ospital ang magutok kundi pati ang aton punerarya,” Dadivas said./PN
