BACOLOD City – Tangub barangay captain Noli Villarosa faces a three-month suspension.
Director Ma. Joy Maredith Madayag of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) here served to Villarosa the suspension order from the Office of the Ombudsman on June 1.
The village chief was accused of simple misconduct. A barangay councilman claimed Villarosa hit him on the nape.
Last year, Villarosa was meted six months of preventive suspension – from September 2020 to March this year – following the filing of complaints at the Ombudsman by the DILG over questions on the distribution of the first tranche of the Social Amelioration Program in BarangayTangub.
“Finding substantial evidence of simple misconduct against respondent Villarosa, the penalty of suspension from work without pay for a period of three months is imposed on him,” read part of an Aug. 12, 2020 order signed by Deputy Ombudsman for the Visayas Paul Elmer Clemente.
The Ombudsman has resolved the administrative case filed on June 19, 2019 by Dindo Amadeo for misconduct.
Amadeo, in his complaint, claimed that on May 25, 2019 at around 8:30 a.m., he was at a coffee shop beside the Barangay Hall of Tangub and without provocation from him, Villarosa hit him.
However, according to Jose Max Ortiz, legal counsel of Villarosa, as of the moment his client won’t step down; they were seeking a clarification from the DILG.
“The higher office of the Ombudsman has yet to resolve the motion for reconsideration filed by Villarosa,” Ortiz claimed.
Meanwhile, according to Madayag, No. 1 barangay councilor Luz Atienza will assume Villarosa’s post.
She added that if Villarosa will defy the Ombudsman order, he will be facing charges./PN
