IPPO nets 3,593 facemask rule violators

ILOILO – Between May 8 and June 1, facemask health protocol violators in this province reached 3,593.

This was a 23.37-percent increase from the 2,799 violators caught from May 8 to May 25, according to the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO).

Of the latest figure, 1,827 persons were caught without facemasks while 1,766 were improperly wearing masks.

Most violators (not wearing of facemasks) came from the towns of Lemery (237), Dumangas (150), Miag-ao (110), Sara (102), and San Miguel (95).

Most of those caught not properly using facemasks were from the towns of San Miguel (164), Dumangas (137), Miag-ao (133), San Rafael (126), and Banate (121).

IPPO director, Police Colonel Gilbert Gorero, said they will continue their massive information drive through social media, rekorida and coordination meetings relative to the proper wearing of facemasks.

“I’m warning the public that we will continue to implement strict operations on health protocols,” Gorero said./PN
