Cuartero locks down town hall

CUARTERO, Capiz – The municipal building here was locked down yesterday. Some employees tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The lockdown will last for five days or until June 18.

According to Mayor Tito Mayo, the close contacts were also mostly from various offices of the local government unit.

During the lockdown, the town hall would be disinfected.

Cuartero is among towns in Capiz with a clustering of COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks.

There is a clustering of cases when there are two or more cases recorded for two consecutive weeks in a single area.

As of June 13, the town had 17 active cases of COVID-19.

People can catch COVID-19 from others who have the virus. The disease can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales.

These droplets also land on objects and surfaces around the person. Other people then catch COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth./PN
