ILOILO – The provincial government is set to receive 5,000 doses of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine manufactured by Pfizer.
However, the allocation may change “kay palaabuton pa lang naton ina,” said Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr.
Defensor expects the shipment as this province is under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) until the end of the month.
“Mas damo-damo hatag nga vaccines to areas under MECQ. It’s really an acknowledgment of the COVID-19 station here,” he added.
When Pfizer vaccines are here, Defensor said, the provincial government would distribute the jabs equally among i42 towns and the component city of Passi.
On June 17, the first batch of Pfizer vaccines were delivered to Region 6 – 11,700 doses were shipped to Negros Occidental and 2,340 to Capiz.
On the other hand, Defensor said, the 270,000 AstraZeneca vaccines the provincial government ordered may arrive this month or in July.
As of June 9, 69,134 residents of Iloilo province have received their first dose of the vaccine, according to the Provincial Health Office (PHO); 20,443 persons, on the other hand, completed their two doses.
A total of 34,586 residents received Oxford’s AstraZeneca vaccine while 34,548 got Sinovac’s Coronavac jabs.
Receiving their first doses were healthcare workers (24,421), senior citizens (26,960) and persons with co-morbidities (17,667), and other individuals belonging to the A4 priority list./PN
