SIGMA, Capiz – In a fit of rage, a man hacked with a bolo his live-in partner and the latter’s daughter in Barangay Mianay on Sunday night.
The 39-year-old Gerald Dela Cruz of Sitio Katamnan, Barangay Parian fled after attacking Adalia Alvarez, 58, and 16-year-old daughter Gee Dee Bless Avelino.
Neighbors brought Alvarez and Avelino to the Dao District Hospital.
Alvarez survived but her daughter died.
Neighbors told the police they heard Dela Cruz and Alvarez arguing prior to the hacking outside Alvarez’s house.
They described Dela Cruz as drunk and claimed hearing him apologizing to Alvarez and Avelino before fleeing.
Responding policemen recovered the 27-inch bolo.
Alvarez was hacked on the face while Avelino was hit on the head, back and right hand.
