Comelec-6 has 29 COVID-hit employees

ILOILO City – Of the Commission on Elections’ (Comelec) 17 regional offices, Western Visayas has the most number of employees vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), and also has the highest number of infections.

As of June 21, 47 percent of Comelec Region 6’s 386 employees already received either their first or second dose of the vaccine, said Director Dennis Ausan in an interview with Panay News.

“While we have the most number of vaccinated Comelec personnel in the country, it is also unfortunate that, waay labot sa main office, we have the most number of COVID cases,” Ausan said.

Damo (vaccinees) because damo man ang senior and damo may comorbidity. Pero ang indi senior and wala comorbidity nagahulat gid kami ‘ya nga sa A4,” he added, referring to the next vaccination priority level which is essential workers.

Comelec-6 is also seeing an increase in its number of inoculated personnel, as vaccinations in local government units are ongoing.

For his part, Ausan said he was completely vaccinated with the Chinese CoronaVac vaccine.

29 POSITIVE CASES

Meanwhile, as of June 21, a total of 29 employees tested positive for COVID-19, Ausan said. Twenty have already recovered, while nine were active.

“I’m sure wala sa amon (Comelec office) nakuha ang COVID; it could be ginkwa sa pamilya nila, nag-una ang asawa or bana and nalatnan,” he noted.

Ausan is reminding all employees, even those vaccinated, to continue observing the minimum health standards.

Wala gid kita nagakulang sa pag-remind sa mga personnel nga we should not really lower our guard bisan nagpa-vaccine ka pa… Kinahanglan we need to observe the health protocols. Halong gid kita. It doesn’t follow nga nagapa-vaccinate ‘ta, indi  na ‘ta puede nga mag-positive,” Ausan added./PN
