ILOILO City – For alleged illegal gambling, eight persons were arrested in Barangay Dawis, New Lucena, Iloilo.
Police said they caught residents Mariano Malones, 70; Ma. Delsa Agus, 64; Salvacion Sibonga, 57; Joyce Emolaga, 46; Ma. Mila Remata, 61; Thelma Mullagas, 59; Mae Yorac, 42; and Jesus Rey Agus, 42, playing mahjong around 6 p.m. on June 27.
They suspects were at a birthday party, the police added.
Recovered from them were P1,940 bet money and two sets of mahjong tiles.
They were taken to the New Lucena police station, facing charges./PN
