Iloilo fourth highest area in COVID cases

ILOILO – This province now has the fourth highest number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the Philippines, trailing only Davao City, Laguna and Cavite with 1,975 cases recorded in the past 14 days.

Department of Health (DOH) data (as of July 6) showed Davao City with 3,163 cases, followed by Laguna (2,878) and Cavite (2,206). Quezon City had 1,501 cases.

As to regions, Region 4-A (Calabarzon) had the highest COVID-19 cases recorded in the past 14 days with 8,299; Region 6 (Western Visayas) – 7,904; National Capital Region – 7,598; Region XI (Davao Region) – 5,966; and Region III (Central Luzon) – 4,948.

In terms of cumulative cases, National Capital Region was leading with 530,303; Calabarzon – 245,879; Region III (Central Luzon) – 128,663; Region VII (Central Visayas) – 77,850; and Western Visayas – 72,789.

For the local government units, meanwhile, Quezon City had the highest cumulative coronavirus infections at 107,695; Cavite – 73,732; City of Manila – 67,531; Laguna – 60,025; and Rizal – 56,212.

As of July 6, Iloilo had 13,199 total confirmed COVID1-9 cases (2,950 active, 9,840 recovered and 329 dead).

Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. reiterated the ban on social gatherings and importance of reverse isolation to slow down the virus transmission.

Defensor also reiterated that these frontliners should consider themselves infected for better reverse isolation.
