MANILA – A cager from Dingle National High School (DNHS) in Iloilo has suited up for the secondary girls’ basketball team of Enderun College.
On Friday, Lady Titans assistant coach Joan Ford Grajales confirmed to Panay News that Maxene de la Torre decided to continue her high basketball career with Enderun.
“We have been eyeing Maxene for a while now. I saw her when I conducted a tryout here in Iloilo City two years ago, and I was amazed at her talent and ability,” said Grajales, adding that the cager will be a huge addition to their team.
For DNHS head coach Prandy Wong, he was delighted that de la Torre’s talent caught the attention of the Lady Titans. He believes that the Ilongga shooter will flourish further under the tutelage of head coach Haydee Ong.
“Maxene is a sharpshooter, and I believe she is a perfect fit sa Enderun,” he said.
Wong added that de la Torre was one of his key players when DNHS ruled the Fourth Congressional District and Integrated Meet. They also represented Iloilo twice in the Western Visayas Athletics Association’s Meet.
De la Torre is the third player from DNHS to move to Manila after Ayesha Pescador and Glydelle Mae Gultiano, who joined the girls’ basketball team of the University of Santo Tomas./PN
