64 WV cops face admin raps

MIRANDA

ILOILO City – Fifty-three administrative complaints were filed against 64 police personnel of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).

Forty-two of these complaints covering 53 personnel have been resolved:

* 14 were dismissed from the service

* one was demoted

* 13 were suspended

* one was meted with the penalty of feiture of salary

* two were reprimanded

* 21 were exonerated

* one case was junked for lack of merit

Eleven other cases are pending resolution. 
Regional police director, Brigadier General Rolando Miranda said complaints filed against the police personnel were being given due course. 

“The PRO-6 is serious in its internal cleansing,” said Miranda.

He added: “Personnel who commit violations will be investigated and penalized accordingly when found guilty. We are warning police officers to take their work seriously kasi malaki na ang sahod nila, sayang ang pinaghirapan nilaHuwag tayo magpabaya ng ating tungkulin sa bayan at sa mga tao. Kasi sila nagpapasweldo sa atin. Respect each and everyone.”

Two weeks ago, a police officer from the Iloilo City Police Office – Police Corporal Virgilio Rojo of Barangay Botong, Oton – was arrested during a raid in the town’s Barangay Cagbang.

Rojo was caught by the Iloilo Police Provincial Office promoting illegal cockfighting.

He even tried to escape, but was eventually arrested./PN
