1st tranche of Iloilo AstraZeneca vaccine orders arriving today

ILOILO – The first tranche of the AZD1222 Vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) ordered by the provincial government from AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals Philippines, Inc. will be delivered today.

This is 2.8 percent or 7,560 doses of the 270,000 doses that were ordered, according to Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr.

An initial budget of P95 million was allotted.

Who will get the vaccines?

Defensor said he is yet to finalize as to which of this province’s 43 local government units would be prioritized.

I-strategize ta anay kon diin puede kag diin maayo,” Defensor said.

The governor has no information as to the arrival of the next tranche.

Vaccination against COVID-19 among priority groups in 42 municipalities and the component city of Passi is ongoing. These include healthcare workers (A1 group), senior citizens (A2), persons with comorbidities (A3), and economic frontliners (A4).

However, Defensor said, he recently received an advice from National Inter-Agency Task Force chief implementer and vaccine czar Carlito Galvez to allot the upcoming vaccines to the A2 and A3 categories only.

May notice kita sinaang ulihi nga manog-abot nga batches may upod sia nga reminder nga let’s focus sa A2 and A3, although ginapasugtan na ang A4… I-reconcile anay naton,” said Defensor.

Based on the data (as of July 14) from the Provincial Health Office (PHO), 104,680 Ilonggos already received their first dose of the anti-coronavirus jabs – 32,155 (healthcare workers), 38,656 (senior citizens), 32,748 (persons with comorbidities), 1,034 (uniformed personnel under A4), two (indigent residents – A5) and 85 others.

Meanwhile, 39,328 Ilonggos already completed (two doses) of vaccination.

As of July 14, a total of 37,857 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccines have been administered (first and second doses) – 103,642 doses of CoronaVac (Sinovac) and 2,527 doses of Pfizer vaccines./PN
