ILOILO City – To address or lessen traffic accidents, the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) launched the E-RECTA kay Tsip TEU (Traffic Enforcement Unit) program.
Traffic-related incidents have always been a major concern, according to Police Colonel Uldarico Garbanzos, city police director.
Vehicular accidents are one of the leading causes of physical injuries which sometimes result in deaths aside from damage to vehicles and properties.
“One of the factors that increase of crime volume are vehicular accidents. We hope this (E-RECTA kay Tsip TEU) program can help,” Garbanzos said.
The public may send reports, complaints and concerns that need immediate action of the TEU through hotlines numbers 338-3864, 09474398219 or 09454820901.
“We will take action…Kun may reklamo sila sa aton personnel investigation will be done,” said Garbanzos.
Between January and June last year, crime volume reached 3,545, of which 2,159 (or 61 percent) were traffic incidents, ICPO data showed.
In the same period this year, more than half of the 2,458 total crime incidents also involved traffic cases.
During last week’s launching of the E-RECTA kay Tsip TEU program, Garbanzos was joined by personnel from the Land Transportation Office, National Police Commission, Public Safety and Transportation Management Office and the city government./PN
