BACOLOD City – An Australian national and a nanny were arrested for allegedly kidnapping two minors in Barangay Estefania on Monday.

Police Major Jun Ray Batadlan, Police Station 4 commander, identified the suspects as 39-year-old Peter Lay and 25-year-old Edlyn Gelantagaan.

According to Batadlan, the children aged nine and three years old were successfully rescued.

Lay was reportedly the former lover of the children’s mother while Gelantagaan was their nanny.

Batadlan said the suspects took away the two children from a hotel in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental on July 18 in an attempt to have their mother return to Lay.

The police chief also said they arrested Gelantagaan as she allegedly told Lay the whereabouts of the children.

Both Lay and Gelantagaan were subsequently transferred to the Dumaguete City police station.

The two minors, meanwhile, were reunited with their mother./PN
