BACOLOD City – A 28-year-old drug suspect in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental was arrested at around 9:30 a.m. yesterday in Sitio Nato, Barangay Aguisan, Himamaylan City, also in Negros Occidental.
Joints elements of the Kabankalan and Himamaylan police stations served an arrest warrant to Joy Jen Utana of Punta Rojas, Barangay 6, Kabankalan City.
The warrant of arrest (Criminal Case No. 2021-9765) was issued just this July 1 by Presiding Judge Rodney Magbanua of the Regional Trial Court 6, Branch 61 (Kabankalan City) for violation of Section 5 of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act).
According to the police, Utana and a companion were subjects of a buy-bust operation on April 15, 2021 in Barangay 6, Poblacion, Kabankalan City. Utana was able to evade arrest after sensing that he was transacting with a police poseur buyer. Meanwhile his companion was arrested.
The court recommended no bail bond for the suspect’s temporary liberty.
