Cop in rape case faces dismissal from service

ILOILO City – Aside from a criminal complaint for rape, the head of the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental may be dismissed from the service.

According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Reynante Reyes, chief of the HPG in Region 6, they have started an investigation on Police Staff Sergeant Willard Judis, the cop tagged in the alleged rape of the 12-year-old daughter of his live-in partner in Barangay Tinampaan, Cadiz City.

Once the probe is completed, all pertinent documents would be forwarded to the HPG national office that will determine the gravity of the administrative liability.

“We will give him due process to defend himself. (But) if proven guilty, he will be dismissed from the service,” said Reyes.

According to the 12-year-old girl, Judis, 47, raped her around 4 p.m. on Tuesday inside her room. She managed to shout for help and her mother caught the suspect.

Judis was arrested by his fellow cops.

He was detained at the Cadiz City police station, facing charges for rape in relation to Republic Act 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act), which is a non-bailable offense.

Judis may also face additional charges after it was also learned that he had a legal wife in Silay City, Negros Occidental./PN
