KALIBO, Aklan – The coronavirus risk level classification of Aklan was downgraded to moderate risk, according to Department of Health (DOH) on Aug. 9.

The two-week growth rate in cases went down to -7 percent recorded from July 23 to August 5 compared to 12.67 percent from July 9 to 22.

The average daily attack rate per 100,000 population in Aklan also improved to 23.16 percent in the recent two weeks, lower than the 24.97 percent of the previous two weeks.

Despite these improving numbers, the healthcare utilization rate of Aklan is at 66.53 percent, considered moderate risk. A high of 85.84 percent of coronavirus disease  2019 (COVID-19) ward beds (97 out of 113) were occupied, while 21 isolation beds out of 42, and 37 out of 58 intensive care unit beds were utilized.

Seventy-four percent of critical COVID-19 cases were admitted in Aklan hospitals, while 20 percent were identified as severe cases.
