THE Philippines is set to receive coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines from Qatar.
This, after a donation of 50,000 COVID vaccines, was approved by His Highness, The Emir of Qatar, thru the Qatar Fund For Development (QFFD) headed by Aisha Alkuwari.
QFFD will wire transfer the funds amounting to $450,000 directly to Sinovac under a supply agreement with the national government.
Ambassador Amable Aguiluz V, His Excellency Dr. Ebrahim Almalki, ambassador of Qatar to the Philippines, worked with Sec. Carlito Galvez, chief implementer and vaccine czar, undersecretary Mark Joven of the Department of Finance, undersecretary Roberto Borje, Dir. Carissa Cruz, guided by Sen. Bong Go, executive secretary Salvador Medialdia, and Sec. Teodoro Locsin Jr., towards the successful approval of the donation.
Aguiluz is working on donations from other member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council./PN
