ILOILO – Forty-three displaced workers in Guimaras were conferred with Animal Production (Chicken Egg Production National Certificate) NC II from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority recently.
The livelihood training aims to provide alternative livelihood to the displaced workers, capacitate them on proper chicken feeding and nutrition, and provide starter kits (layer chickens). It was held from June 4 to July 16.
During the graduation ceremony last Aug. 10 in Brgy. Maabay, Sibunag, the beneficiaries received five layer chicken egg starter kits from the provincial government. Guimaras Police Provincial Office (GPPO) director Col. Pablito Asmod, Jr. also gave starter kit feeds.
“It is the desire of the Provincial Government that displaced workers can bounce back from the effect of the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic,” according to Elena Quezon of the Provincial Economic Development Office.
She assured that the provincial government would continue providing livelihood training to alleviate the burden of the displaced workers.
On the other hand, Col. Asmod was thankful for the opportunity to help the Guimarasnons who have lost their livelihood due to the health crisis.
He said that the beneficiaries could use the kits as a start-up business, especially during this pandemic. He also assured that GPPO would continue to support and assist the livelihood initiatives of the province./PN
