South Korean fugitives captured

ILOILO City – For overstaying and fraud, two South Korean nationals – both fugitives in their country – were arrested in Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan.

Kwon Yontae, 59, and Lim Seung Il, 39, were nabbed in Barangay Balabag around 8:22 p.m. on Aug. 13 upon the order of Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morante.

According to Police Staff Sergeant Teddy Dalisay, investigator in-charge of the Malay police station, the fugitives were arrested for:

* violation of Commonwealth Act No. 613 as overstaying, undesirable and fugitive alien nationals; and 

* fraud under Criminal Act 347-(1) issued by Seoul Bukbu District Court, Republic of Korea dated Nov. 19, 2012,

Dalisay said members of the Korean National Police Agency and members of the Fugitive Search Unit of the Bureau of Immigration spearheaded the arrest.

The two South Korean nationals reportedly have a business in Boracay Island.
