BACOLOD City – Two more cases of the more transmissible Delta variant of the virus causing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) were detected in this city – a 63-year-old woman and a three-year-old boy.
Although these cases were both from Barangay Mansilingan, they were not related, according to City Administrator Em Ang, citing the information from the Department of Health and Philippine Genome Center.
The boy was swabbed on July 15. He was asymptomatic based on his Case Investigation Form (CIF), said Mayor Evelio Leonardia.
The woman, on the other hand, was swabbed on July 23 and was symptomatic. Her CIF showed she was fully vaccinated with the Sinovac.
Both patients have already recovered, Leonardia said.
“The asymptomatic male Delta positive has already been released from the mandatory 10-day quarantine, while the 63-year-old underwent 14-day isolation and had also been cleared,” Leonardia added.
Nevertheless, the mayor ordered local containment measures/surgical lockdown of the affected residential areas.
“The Emergency Operations Center also conducted repeat swabbing of the two, including their close contacts,” Leonardia said. “Contact tracing of up to third generation close contacts is also being effected.”
Last week, Bacolod recorded its two first Delta cases from barangays Banago and Sum-ag.
Both cases tested positive for COVID-19 in July yet and have already recovered.
The cases were presently in their respective houses after having been isolated in quarantine facilities last month./PN
