BACOLOD City – This city government has opened its coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination program to “walk-ins” at its various inoculation sites.
The walk-in vaccination is for those belonging to A1 to A5 priority populations: frontline health workers, elderly, adults with comorbidities, essential workers and the indigent population.
But they must be pre-registered online, according to the Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
The walk-in vaccination would be until Aug. 27.
The city government has so far vaccinated 215,399 residents, of which 94,179 completed their doses.
The city is targeting to inoculate 424,992 individuals, according to City Administrator Em Ang, executive director of EOC.
Ang said yesterday, the city received 5,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines from a private donor.
Likewise, on the same day the city received 10,000 Sinovac vaccine doses from the national government.
On the other hand, the city government recently launched its second “VAX-i” (mobile vaccination) bus in partnership with Vallacar Transit Inc. It hopes to reach more people for vaccination.
The EOC, together with doctors, nurses and frontliners, have introduced innovations in the vaccination drive. These included the “drive-thru” vaccination at the 5th level parking area of Ayala Malls Capitol Central and the “graveyard” vaccination in Business Process Outsourcing companies, on top of the ongoing inoculation at mass vaccination sites./PN
