ILOILO City – This city recently announced the winners of its virtual sporting events in line with its 84th Charter Day Celebration on Aug. 25.
John Lester Lapidez of Barangay Jose City Proper ruled the Skateboarding Photo Contest, while the pair of Ash Marañon of Jaro and Rheco Labausas of Oton, Iloilo, emerged as runner-up.
Kirt Gardose of Veterans Village finished third, while Melvin Joseph Hablo of Ledesco Village, Jaro, and John Ray Alipato of Imperial 6 occupied the fourth spot.
Meanwhile, Labausas won the Firing Line category of the skateboarding competition, ousting Marjohn Rusiana (second), Vallyn Jay Alcala (third), Maverick Sabariz (fourth), and Nathaniel Ferrer Carreon (fifth) (fifth).
In the virtual BMX competition, Jhiemar Becera ruled the event, followed by Raymart Flores (second), Lester Fabillon (third), Jeric Cerillo (fourth), and Zuric Haro (fifth).
On the other hand, La Paz district bagged the championship in the Virtual Arnis “Anyo”, defeating competitors from Jaro, Lapuz, City Proper, Molo, and Arevalo.
“I am thankful to the support of Ilonggos to our Charter Day sporting events, even if it is virtual. Sa tanan nga nag–intra, madamo gid nga salamat! Padayon lang sa pag lab-ot sang inyo handom,” said Rudiver Jungco Sr., the city’s executive assistant for youth and sports, adding that the awarding of prizes will be scheduled in accordance with the coronavirus disease 2019 health and safety protocols./PN
