Typhoon-affected residents get aid

ROXAS City – Both the city government of Roxas and provincial government of Capiz sent aid to families in the coastal barangay of Punta Cogon here affected by Typhoon “Jolina”.

A storm surge damaged their houses on Tuesday.  

Food packs were released to 311 families by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).

CSWDO and CDRRMO personnel also assessed the damaged houses.

For its part, the provincial government of Capiz delivered food packs. Fifty residents were the beneficiaries.

“Jolina” has maximum sustained winds of 95 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 115 km/h. It is moving west northwest at 15 km/h.

This morning, “Jolina” is expected to emerge over the West Philippine Sea where it is expected to re-intensify.

From the West Philippine Sea, Jolina will head toward the southern China-northern Vietnam area.

“Jolina” is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday morning.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration advised the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned to take the necessary measures to protect life and property./PN
