THE NATION is in a sad state. This pandemic is disturbing the economy of almost all sectors of society – business, tourism, travel, etc.
While sipping their coffee and smoothies, senior citizens insisted they could not stay at home lest they get ill. They just want to discuss issues over cappuccino and all.

“Are these lockdowns really helping avoid the spread of the virus? What does a lockdown do to reduce the virus’ spread?” asked a retired banker. “It is actually doing more harm, making the community hungry and desperate.”

“True, the work force are losing their earnings. Workers in restaurants, hotels, mall stores, even taxicab and jeepney drivers are feeling hell,” said the golfer. “I am of the belief that local government leaders should instead be strict and firm in instilling discipline. There are a lot of hard-headed residents in barangays.”
***
“If the manner of discipline is to lock down the violators’ area of residence, there could be more control. Imagine stores are closed, businesses are bankrupt. Nany are simply quiet but they are angered by these quarantine changes from time to time,” added a teacher who lost his teaching job due to this pandemic

“If there is a Delta case, simply lock the case’s vicinity. Do not penalize the hundreds of thousands of city residents. In same manner, if there is a serious case in a southern town or city, why include the northern cities and towns? This is something many do not understand with the government,” said the banker.

“We wonder why some physicians favor vaccines while others do not. What makes them think differently? Ondependent practitioners are said to be against. Why? Are they not one in mind with the country’s health authorities? Besides, why are vitamins not being endorsed or distributed to the public?” asked the teacher.
***
“I am even curious about the ingredients of the different vaccines. Do they contain the same materials? Are they coming from the same sources and just branded differently? Health authorities have some explaining to do,” said the golfer.
***
“The nation is in a quandary as to what to really believe. If the vaccines are reliable, why are there so many brands on the line? Again I agree that the government has the obligation to inform what these vaccines contain in them,” added the teacher.
***
“Probably, government leaders have their own reasons why they do not urge people to take vitamins that strongly improve immunity. We must pity people who are already sacrificing,” said the pastor. “It is all vaccines, vaccines, vaccines.”
***
“A coin has two sides. A door has two sides. There are those in favor of vaccines. There are those who are afraid of vaccines. Their rights must be respected. If government wishes to sincerely stop the pandemic, leaders must be honest. Respect and honesty are of value,” the pastor ended the table talk.
