COVID death toll in WV climbs to 3,031

ILOILO City – With 40 more deaths recorded on Oct. 1 due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19), Western Visayas’ death toll due to the viral illness climbed to 3,031.

Department of Health (DOH) data showed Iloilo province having the most number of COVID deaths at 781, followed by Negros Occidental with 539.

Iloilo City closely followed with 532 deaths; Bacolod City, 471; Capiz, 264; Aklan, 193; Antique, 184; and Guimaras, 66.

Yesterday, DOH Region 6 logged 987 more coronavirus infections, bringing the total active cases in Western Visayas to 16,344.

Data also showed 51.93 percent of the active cases were asymptomatic, 41.76 percent mild, 3.96 percent moderate, 2.15 percent severe and 0.20 percent were critical.

The new cases brought the total confirmed cases recorded in the region to 130,870.

Those who recovered from the disease has reached 111,485 including the 784 new recoveries recorded yesterday./PN
