ILOILO – Last month’s ambush in Passi City remained unsolved.
“Wala pa gid kita suspects,” said Police Lieutenant Dennis Pamonag, Passi City police chief.
The ambush left two people killed, including a drug suspect.
“Bisan ang salakyan nga gingamit sang mga suspects wala kita plate number. We reviewed the closed circuit television, but the plate number was not visible,” Pamonag told Panay News on Sunday.
Probers will not stop investigating and looking for witnesses, said Pamonag.
“It’s so difficult to solve this case but wala kami nagapabaya sa sining kaso,” he added.
On Sept. 25, Kenneth Dorado, Jennilyn Griño, Jomar Fuentes, and Jennifer Opina (driver) were riding a rented van going to Roxas City when strafed by three persons in a red car in Barangay Aglalana.
Griño and Fuentes died while Dorado was hospitalized.
Recovered empty shells suggested a .9mm pistol, .45 pistol and an M16 armalite rifle were used in the ambush.
DRIVER NO CLUE, TOO
Pamonag said even Opina could not recognize the gunmen.
“Opina told us he hid under the driver’s seat when he heard the gunshots. Wala gani sia kabalo kon diin nga direction nagpadulong ang pula nga salakyan,” Pamonag said.
Investigators suspect illegal drugs and revenge as motives in the incident.
Dorado mentioned names of possible suspects, but he could not substantiate his claim, according to Pamonag.
There were also reports that the assailants were paid P150,000 for Dorado’s death, but police have yet to confirm.
Sometime in 2009, Dorado was arrested for illegal drugs. He was released from jail in 2017.
Griño, on the other hand, was jailed following an anti-drug operation in 2009. She was released from jail three months ago.
“We call on those nga may nabal-an to please come to our office so justice would be served,” Pamonag said./PN
