Antique’s Top 5 fugitive falls

SAN JOSE, Antique – After 17 years of hiding, Antique’s No. 5 most wanted person was finally arrested.

Forty-year-old murder suspect Jaime Fernandez of Barangay Bayo Pequeño, Anini-y, Antique was collared in Barangay Anahaw 1, Silang, Cavite at around 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 2.

Fernandez disappeared from Barangay Bayo Pequeño after a shooting on July 5, 2004 that left a neighbor dead.

He was subsequently charged with murder (Criminal Case No. 2004-9-7061).

Operatives of the Antique and Cavite police arrested Fernandez. They were armed with a warrant of arrest issued by Presiding Judge Rudy Castrojas of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 12 (San Jose, Antique) on Oct. 4, 2004.

No bail was recommended for his temporary liberty.

After his arrest, Fernandez was taken to the Silang, Cavite police station. He would be returned to Antique./PN
